Find out if a bag of food could be a problem for your pet

The app checks each product's ingredient list for the allergens you've listed for your pet. It also lets you know when an official recall affects a product you've scanned.

Sample profiles inspired by Newton and Mya.

Cat wet food page with the alert “Allergen detected for Newton”: the product contains fish, and the app advises avoiding it.

Allergens

Pick your pet's allergies in their profile

The list has 12 common allergens. After that, on every product page you open, the app looks for them in the ingredient list.

  • Chicken and poultry
  • Beef
  • Pork
  • Lamb
  • Fish (Newton's allergy)
  • Egg
  • Dairy
  • Gluten and wheat
  • Corn
  • Soy
  • Rice
  • Yeast

In the examples on this page, Newton, a 5-year-old cat, is allergic to fish.

When the ingredient list is missing, the product page says so

Every product page gives one of these three answers. The third shows up when the app can't tell, because it would rather say so than guess.

  • Allergen detected for Newton

This product contains: fish. Newton is allergic to it: avoid this product.

One of the allergens you listed shows up in the ingredients. The alert appears at the top of the product page. With Premium, that pet's score can't go above 20.

  • None of your pet's allergens were found

Fish doesn't appear in this product's ingredient list.

The app read the ingredient list and didn't find your pet's allergens in it. This answer only covers what's printed on the bag.

  • Allergies can't be verified

This product's ingredient list hasn't been filled in.

Without an ingredient list, the app can't say either way. It tells you so, instead of showing a “no risk” it can't back up. If you have the bag in hand, you can send in the ingredients, and they'll be reviewed before they go live.

Personalized score

A product with a high score can still be wrong for your pet

Good nutrition doesn't make up for an allergy. A wet food can look excellent on paper. If it contains an allergen you listed for your pet, their score can't go above 20.

The personalized score comes with Kroket Premium. The allergen alert doesn't need a subscription.

Newton's score card for a fish wet food: 20 out of 100, a daily portion of 199 g and estimated needs of about 172 kcal.

Product recalls

Official recalls cover pet food too

Kroket follows the recalls published on RappelConso. It's the French government website where product recalls in France are announced, kibble and wet food included.

The app checks those recalls against your history and favorites. If one of your products is on the list, it flags it in three places.

  • On its product pagered banner
  • On the home screenred banner
  • On your phonenotification

You don't need a subscription for these alerts

Allergen alerts and product recalls are free, and they'll stay free. All you need is a free account, created with Apple, Google or an email address.

The alerts are based on the ingredients printed on the bag. They can't tell you whether your pet has an allergy. Your vet is the one who can confirm it, and advise you if your pet has a reaction.

Allergen alerts and product recalls aren't on Android yet.
